Shark Report 2: Pioneer Sprint 2016

Race: Ted O'Neil reporting on Pioneer Sprint 2016, Petersburg IL

Course Summary: 300 indoor swim, 13mi bike, 5k

Results: 3rd OA

Other Sharks present: a bunch of us!

Swim: Chip timed and started with good spacing between swimmers, didn't have to pass many people, but when I did there was plenty of room. Very cool and friendly vibe waiting in the swim start line.

Bike: Very smooth out & back course with a few surprising hills on the back half. Nice transition area with plenty of room between bikes.

Run: Loved the run! lots of corners, one large up&down hill, gravel section through a cemetery, plenty of support and people at each cross street.

Weird Trivia and Facts: Very enjoyable race director who put on a great race. Perfect early season race to shake off the winter and prep for Tri-Shark. I've always enjoyed Sullivan, but if they are on the same weekend next year I'll be in Petersburg again. Much better course and race management.
